Central Park Tower
This apartment’s most impressive feature—the impossibly stunning view north toward Central Park through an expanse of glass—is also its greatest challenge for a designer. A custom mill piece uses backlighting, texture, and depth to bring the living room back down to human scale and infuse it with warmth, balancing the height of the ceilings and the chill of the glass.
To turn this glass-sided box into a bedroom refuge, we began by cladding all of the non-window walls in scalloped wood. The textured, handcrafted feel coalesces at the bed, where custom furnishings—a supple red leather headboard with integrated nightstands, mirror, and ceramic lamps—transform what could be a cold space into a warm, welcoming nest.
