Work Nevis Hospitality
A pristine shoreline on a seldom visited island hides a timeless luxury resort with restaurants, villas, spas, a conference center, and the world’s first 5-star modular hotel. As DF&A designed it, this resort will be the culmination of a long and winding journey. A flight will bring visitors to St. Kitts, Nevis’s sister island, where they’ll catch a boat ride from Basseterre across the Narrows, enticed by views of Mount Nevis draped in low-hanging clouds. From there, a ride in a classic Citroen, which takes visitors on a mysterious journey through the lush and little-known island, around vistas of incredible natural beauty, to emerge at the northeast coast and the totemic shapes of The Nevisian.
Dispensing with the usual resort cliches of British Colonial colonnades or Bahamian verandas, The Nevisian exists out of time, in simple rectilinear shapes that feel both thoroughly modern and as ancient as Stonehenge. The simplicity of these paleolithic forms belies a sophisticated sustainable design that enriches rather than depletes the island’s resources. Chief among the innovations at play is a luxury modular hotel — the world’s first — that marries the efficiency and flawlessness of modular construction with spectacular design and amenities. But none of that need concern the guest or resident, simply luxuriating in a sublime and dynamic space.
