76 Greene Street
Queen of Greene
Greene Street is one of the few remaining cobblestone streets in SoHo, and the building known as “The King of Greene” is one of its treasures: clad in a 19th-century cast-iron façade and graced with soaring ceilings and sprawling space. For the new offices of Casey Patterson Entertainment, we sought to preserve the SoHo charm by keeping the sweep of the central spaces. We thickened the walls in order to embed desks, workspaces, and even a marble-topped bar into the sides of the central thoroughfare, in a sense bringing the building’s façade—along with its grandeur and elegance—inside.
That duality characterizes every aspect of the design for these offices, which by day house a thriving production and entertainment company and by night host events for A-list celebrities. An office converts to a screening room; a grand piano anchors the lobby; and our custom-designed furniture chicly expresses both workday efficiency and after-hours luxury. It’s the perfect headquarters for a company whose business is leisure.
